a new council as of July. The council was elected during the July meeting
and the new fiscal year started on July 1. The new council has some big
shoes to fill but with some continuity in the President and Public Relations
positions, the transfer from First Council to Second Council was smooth.
The new council immediately met with the administrators and webmaster
to update the home page of the web site. It now has pictures from past
HotA events changing every time you log on! Log on and catch a glimpse
of yourself in costume with a lightsaber or playing games at the Bantha
BBQ, or just hanging out with some Stormtroopers. Ahh, good times. Dues remain the same at $15 for those willing to be a Full Member. Special privileges have been granted to Full Members besides the normal voting rights. There is now an arcade on the forums for full members who want to play or challenge other members to a game. Play at your own risk! Members have been known to go catatonic while shooting at tie-fighters and have epileptic fits while playing Donkey Kong! Come to our next meeting or one of our events and pick up
your Heart of the Alliance FanForce business cards. You’ll never
know when you need’em! Standing in the line at your local grocery
store, at your local movie rental store, or ask to leave them at your
favorite comic book shop. You never know when you’re going to meet
another Star Wars fan! [top] By Bart (GandalfBMG) When we learned that not only was KC a stop on Vader, Chewie, and Wicket's road trip for starwars.com, but that they were going to be at the Royals/Yankees game, we knew we had to be there to do something. So HotA members gandalfbmg, gswookie, and mandalorian hunter, along with trusty photographers KC-Jedi and Lord Stimpy, hurried up to finish and upgrade our costumes, and headed out to the ballpark to meet them. People were asking for pictures as soon as we got into the parking lot, and anywhere we went that was the order of the day. We found Wicket and Chewie immediately, and got several pictures from them (and 'Leia' finally got the Wookie kiss promised to her by Han). Then we had to high-tail it find Vader and his guards before they had to be on the field (stopping along the way for yet MORE pictures). Getting captured by the Dark Lord, he released us but we spent several more minutes taking pictures with fan of all ages (and wearing gear from all teams, even the evil empire of the Yankees). The night was a huge success, with so many kids of all ages thrilled
to get a picture, autograph, or hug from their favorite characters. And
just to top it all off, one of the pictures submitted to starwars.com
has made the finals of their 'on the road' photo contest. You can see

Maybe you have a Star Trek, Indiana Jones, Stargate, Lord of the Rings, or even Silent Bob costume? Come to the Grand Opening of Vintage Stock in front of Lowe’s in Liberty, MO on Saturday and Sunday, September 23 and 24th. We’re guaranteed to meet other Sci-fi Fans and show off our costumes at the same time! So if you’ve got a costume come and join us for photo opportunities with kids and adults alike! Heart of the Alliance will have a table with a newsletter sign-up sheet, candy and plenty of photo opportunities for everyone! We’ll be there from 10:00am – 6:00pm on Saturday and from 12:00pm – 4:00pm on Sunday.
[top] By Bart (GandalfBMG) A new comic and toy convention has come to the Kansas City area, and HotA will have a presence at their first large event, the Free State FreeCon in Lawrence, KS. Come join us at the Douglas County Fairgrounds and meet the best Star Wars fans in the metro, browse the vendors and artists, and enter or raffle to win some great prizes and help out our favorite charities. The convention is at building 21, and will run from 10AM to 5PM Saturday, September 30. Also, with three years of the annual Bantha BBQ, we’ve added a
companion event, the Autumn Ewok Roast. Stop by shelter house 3 of Macken
Park in North Kansas City on Saturday, Oct. 14. We’ll be there from
10 AM to 8 PM with food, games, and fun! [top] |
