2:00 - 3:00 (but we can go until 3:30)

Please post what you’d be interested in helping out with and I’ll update. If we could get 2-3 people per section, that would be great. If you can come in costume – even better since I advertised “special guests” for photo ops. Just let me know in your post what character you can appear as. We could also use some prizes for the trivia games - nothing fancy or expensive. Make sure you sign up in the correct post for the correct date and event. Remember, opportunities like this rarely fall in our laps – I know we’ll put on a great event for the kids! PM me with any questions.
(old discussion here)
1) Introductions, including a bit about the group including types of events and brief history, membership (13 for boards and under 18 requires adult at events). Have slideshow going as this is going on.
~Seth Supplies: laptop (Bart)
2) Have the kids get their snacks.
~Seth Supplies: Jabba Juice, Blue Milk (Seth); Bantha Poo-doo cookies and Bossk Brownies (Sarah)
3) Talk about how SW isn't 'just' the movies; that it continues in books and comics. Show the books and comics, and point out the library's offerings.
~Seth Supplies: Books (Bart and Sarah)
4) Bring out 'good guys' in costume.
~Bart (RFT), Marcus (Padawan)
5) Read a story (or excerpt), can be a good guy or a non-costumed.
~Bart Supplies: book?
6) Bring out 'bad guys'.
~Sarah (TIE), Jaster (Stormie), Tony (Garindian)
7) Have people in costume do trivia for prizes (Need prize donations: a book or figure or comic or anything) Darth Tater (Bart & Sarah)
John Supplies: Questions(Angie via Bart); prizes (???)
8 ) Do pictures and general mayhem, directing the kids toward the crafts:
Coloring pictures provided by Darryl, Masks
Amy Supplies: Mask material (Bart and Sarah)
Tenative: Jamie (palpy), Angela (photog)

| I don't think this day will be a problem, but we'll see as the date gets closer. If anything, keep me as tentative for this one, and if all else fails and all the slots get filled, i'll still come out and hang out and help. |

Well, our Leavenworth lady is out for this particular event, but you should see if Dirk Steele or Darth Matt is coming from Lawrence... |

| still talking with my wife on this one, but i should have an answer by the end of the week. She may not be down for it as October is really busy for events and stuff ya know. plus if we're going to the costume party, she may want to waylay our departure so she can get ready. i'll let you guys know. |

| First post updated with the 'schedule' discussed in the old thread, and I made an attempt at assigning each task plus the materials needed for each and who's doing that. Just over a week left people so PLEASE get signed up for what you can do. Word is this will be even more attended than the last one. Also, if you plan to bring anyone (such as 501st or RL friends) please let us know that so we can include them in the count!!! |

Sometimes getting your friends to come is a last minute thing, so it might not be possible to know in advance. But I say if you can get some, bring some, cause more the merrier! Right?
Also, something else that might be a good idea. A waiver for parents to sign if they want their kids in photos on the internet (or make it something for them to sign if they don't want their kids pics up, just regardless we would need a description of what the kid is wearing so not to include the child in an online pic) I know this seems strange, but in this day of age, not all parents want their kids pictures being online. It's just a thought. |

I specifically TOLD every parent there last time that the group picture would be up on our website. I have each one a HotA business card and explained how to get to the photo gallery. Not one parent complained or asked that their kid NOT be present in the picture. I suggest that we do the same thing and if they choose NOT to have their kid on our webpage, then we pull the kid out of the photo all together and just take a picture of the kids that we can put in the gallery. |

I've wondered about this myself. I know it seems excessive, but in this day and age, you have to cover yourself. If someone does come back later and complain, a verbal agreement isn't going to cover us. Besides, having a waiver to sign might give HotA a more professional image. I know the schools where I work have a form that they have each parent sign at enrollment to cover us if pictures are taken for the newspaper, etc.
Didn't I sign something when my photo was first taken to be put up on the members page? |
